One of my husband’s coworkers was having a baby shower this past week at work which means I had another reason to make a quilt. 🙂 I knew I needed to do something quick and easy, to make sure it was done in time for the gift giving. I decided on a baby/playmat-sized quilt in a really simple rail fence design in greens and yellows with a pop of orange.
I have had these fabrics pulled for some undetermined future project for more than a year. They are a mix of LQS and Jo-Ann fabrics. It was so nice to be able to use fabric from my stash for an entire quilt. I need to make an effort to do that more often.
I am especially pleased with how the back turned out. To piece my backs, I usually just start by laying out my scraps from the front to see how they work together. This time, I was working with/around a big piece of the focal print — the lemon Alexander Henry fabric.
I used yellow thread to do meandering free motion quilting. I just have to say that I love how the meandering stitching looks after washing. Nothing beats it.
I machine sewed the binding and it turned out pretty well this time. I am getting better at it with each quilt.
Both the front and the back turned out just wonderful! Great (and inspiring!) work 🙂
Lucia, it’s beautiful!!! You should open an etsy shop and sell them! I would definitely buy some! You are so talented.
just lovely lucia!
This is stunning. I love your fabric combination!!!
Puts a smile on my face!! Love the feeling you get from all the warmth of the colors and comfort from the quilting. You can feel the love and familiarity of it.
